Cruising Vessel Design
Our cruises take place aboard a Phinisi (or pinisi), which are the traditional sea vessels of Indonesia. While these boats are reminiscent of Western schoeners, the boat employs triangle sails which are fastened to the the mast and the gaff. Because of the warm climate of Indonesia, Phinisi boat design utilizes spacious open air decks and cabin areas with large windows which keep guests cool while providing maximum unimpeded panoramic views which enhance the cruising experience. Because the seas of this part of Indonesia do not experience significant wind, the primary mode of vessel propulsion will be engine power.
